1.Who are you?
o  What is your name?
· Karrin

· Fictional
o  What should we know about you?
· Wow, that’s long and complicated.  Right now, I’m stuck on a deserted planet, called Switch.
2.Tell us about your story:
o  When and where is your tale set?
· I’m not sure of the year, but I’ve been on the planet Switch for nine years. Most of those alone. Except for a strange monkey I call Brownie that showed up just when I needed him.
o  What is your personal goal?  I mean, what do you ultimately want?
· To get off this planet and to find out what happened to Lurga.  Is he really dead?  I just can’t accept that.
o  What is standing in your way?  What conflict(s) do you face?
· I found a crashed Senod space ship.  The computer told me to file a salvage claim on the contents.  Which I did.  Now, the Calens are sending a fleet to kill me.  I never did understand why the wanted me dead to begin with.  They killed the only Mother I knew.  Well, not them, but Lurga did after they hired him to hunt me down.
· If I survive the battle, maybe I’ll finally know the answer.

Father McCray from Evil Rides With The Wind 1&2

MEET MY CHARACTER

1.     Who are you?
o   What is your name?
·   Father McCray
o   Are you a fictional or historical character?
·   Fictional
o   What should we know about you?
·   I was once a man of God before I did the unmentionable and that was I signed a contract with the Lucifer. I did such a terrible thing  to save the women of my small town from evil that descended upon us. Now I am fighting to get my soul back and I often wonder how God will look upon me when that day comes.
2.     Tell us about your story:
o   When and where is your tale set?
·   The majority of my tale takes place in Texas during the mid 1800's.
o   What is your personal goal?  I mean, what do you ultimately want?
·   My personal goal is to get my soul back after I fulfill my contract with Lucifer. My fear is how I will be perceived by God when that day comes. I often wonder will he accept me back into his fold with open arms or will I be forever vanished to Hell.
·   A man has to make hard decisions at times and in this case, I was too weak to fight the evil that was causing great harm to the women of my town. After listening to hours of torturous screaming, Lucifer came to me and offered to make it go away, but the price I had to pay was great. I had to collect one hundred evil souls for him to secure the release of my own soul.
o   What is standing in your way?  What conflict(s) do you face?
·   Nothing stood in my way. I did what I had to do to collect the souls of one hundred evil outlaws.
·   I figured out fast I was not fast at the draw, which resulted in me being shot many times. I found out quickly Lucifer enjoyed the suffering I went through with each injury I accrued while on my journey.
·   I also had to struggle with the man that I became.  A man that was once outgoing and now was strictly a loner, who did not want the company of other people.
·   Another thing that I had to fight against was losing all sense of my morality.
3.     How do I get a copy of your book?
o   What is the title or working title for this piece?
·   Evil Rides With The Wind 1 & 2 western novel series
o   Is it available now or when can we expect to see it released?
·   Available now on Amazon

JOHN IRVINE's In My Hot Seat!

My Interview with JOHN IRVINE!

I always appreciate authors and readers taking time out of their lives for me.  I understand the demands authors face from “the voices in our heads” and how they battle with the limited time of “our real lives”.  I, also, strive to give readers quality material, understanding the resources they are investing into my work and the work of others I am supporting.  I hope I honor you all!
1.     I always kick off my interviews with the same question.  Therefore, please tell us how you’d describe yourself?
I'm a 77-year-old agnostic cynic! Done a lot of things in my life including plying/singing music in bars, scuba diving, motorcycle racing, rally cars, delivering cruising yachts and managing a tourist lodge in the PNG jungles.
I'm also a poet with a number of published collections and a writer of flash  fiction.
2.      You are a well-known poet.  You have a lot of truth in your words and self in your works.  I would like to discuss this in this first set of questions.
·   What style of poetry do you prefer to write in?
o   I started with terrible rhyming stuff... well, us kids of the 90s and 50s grew up on nursery rhymes. I generally write open verse, but have a love for sonnets and Japanese forms. I have written in most forms mainly for fun.
Ø  Is it different from what you select to read?  Why, or why not?
§ Probably not... I do love the crusty poets from the Beat Generation like Bukowski.
Ø  What do you think constitutes a good poem?
§ Hmmm… that's a tough one as the reader does the choosing. I like to leave something for the reader to work out.
ü  Do you feel the quality of the poem is enriched because you are sharing a personal experience in life instead of writing purely fiction?
·        Not necessarily, no.
ü  How often do you write fiction-based poetry?  Why do you think this is?
·        Mostly fictional. I have thousands of poems in the files and most are fiction. There's only so much one can write about self before the reader vomits!!
3.     What’s the best way for readers to connect with you and your work?
Personal WEBSITE.
BOOKS on Amazon.
PERSONAL Facebook.
AUTHOR Facebook.
Thanks again.  You are a fascinating person and a treasured friend.  I have always enjoyed our chat, and I look forward to many more in the coming future!

Spitzel and the Spider by Jo Ann Wentzel (Author), Janice Ducrepont (Illustrator)

Book Spotlight

1)    What is the title of your book?
                  Spitzel and the Spider
Ø  What is the story about?
It is a children’s book about the interactions of a cat and a spider.
Ø  Who is the main character?
·  The cat whose nickname is Spitzel.
2)   What inspired this tale?
Ø  How did the story come to you?
It was based on an incident while we were living and traveling in a motor home with our pets. A large spider entered the camper and the curious cat reacted to the spider uncharacteristically. She did not hunt it or attack it, but played with it very gently. It remained for weeks and she enjoyed it without harming it.
Ø  Did you have to research for this novel, and if so, why?
·  No research for this novel except to find the appropriate scientific name for the spider.
3)   Do you relate to your character?
Ø  Is your protagonist anything like you, personally?
·  Well, since my main character is a cat, I can only relate a little, but I am curious about many things. I also try to accept differences in others. We all have our quirks and oddities, but if we wish to get to know them, we need to be flexible and not treat those differences as barriers. After fostering many children for many years, often 8 teens at one time, I know being a family has nothing to do with being related and everything to do with loving each other.
ü   If yes, then how?
o   The cat acts on instinct, but I believe humans think before acting or should. In this case, the cat acted with kindness instead of a natural predator to this spider.
ü   If no, how do you differ from one another?
o   Well, I am a human. Guess that makes the most difference. I certainly have never befriended a spider. But wait, I don’t hurt them either. I just move them if they are in the way. I love the fact they get rid of mosquitoes. Here in the Northwoods, they can be a problem.
Ø  What made you write this character?
ü   What should readers know about this character?
o   I believe there is so much focus on what the differences are between people that we forget to focus on the similarities. We are more alike than we know. In addition, I am an advocate for fostering children and wanted to stress how easy it is to love non-related kids or in this story, a different species.
ü   Why is this character important to you?
o   This was a sweet cat with a loving disposition and she was my pet. Her real name was Doonie, but my husband gives everyone a nickname, so Spitzel was attached to her.
o   I am an animal lover and have rescued animals and wrote articles about rescue pets for years.
o   Spitzel shows us what is important in life.
Ø  Do you consider the main character of your story to be good or bad, and why?
·  She was good because she treated the spider gently and as a character, she accepted his differences.
Ø  What’s the objective of your character?
·  To treat her new playmate kindly. I hope she shows real children how to be the same way.
4)   Is there anything you specifically want readers to know about this piece of work?
Ø  Is there a particular idea or morale you are trying to convey?
·  Well, just that we need to treat others according to the Golden rule and Christian values should be part of our life. Love may not conquer all, but it goes a long way to making people feel valued.
5)   Where can readers connect with you and purchase your book?
