Atonement (Book 7 of the Detective Ryan Series)

 WIPs and New Releases

1)     Tell us about your book…

Ø  Is this a WIP or a new release?

·     This is a new release set to come out June 7th (available for preorder HERE)

Ø  Is it a standalone or an installment to a series or collection?

·     This is the 7th book in the Detective Ryan Series

Ø  What is the story about?

·  Murder, revenge, and the death of a loved one have forced Detective Ali Ryan back to New York. With no choice, Ali must face her peers and family, atoning for her mistakes while hunting down her greatest rival, the Red Queen. Every moment counts in this thrilling new chapter in the Detective Ryan Series, where paying for your sins can be deadly.

2)    What inspired this tale?

Ø  How did you come up with the plot?

·  It started with the end of the last book in the Detective Thornton Series (Chaos) and the 6th installment of the Detective Ryan Series (Escape). I alluded to a death of a main character and decided to continue from there. It became a book of how much devastation can I cause with the new character, the Red Queen.

Ø  Did you have to research for this novel – if so, what and why?

·  Very minimal. I had to research abandoned warehouses and some places to eat in Rhinebeck and Kingston, NY.

Ø  If you did research, what surprised you most to learn, and why do you think that was?

·  Nothing surprising, but it made me wish I had still been in the area to visit the places instead of looking them up online.

3)   Tell us about your character?

Ø  Who is the main character?

·  Detective Ali Ryan, a smart, sassy, won’t give up detective who is literally put through hell.

Ø  Is your protagonist anything like you, personally?

o   If yes, then how?

§  I would just say her determination and no quit attitude.

Ø  What made you write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell their story?

·  The Ali Ryan character has gone through hell. It was important, because there aren’t too many female detective novels out there. I wanted a strong, independent woman to be the focal point of the story. Even when the odds are against her, or she had lost someone she loved, I wanted her to overcome the obstacle and take down the suspect.

4)   Is there anything specific that you want readers to know about this piece of work?

This is the second to last book in the series. It will have several big twists, including a cliffhanger that will have you begging for the next installment in the series.

5)    How do we get a copy?

o   Has the book already been published, or is it available for pre-order?

·     It is available forpre-order and will release June 7th.

o   Are you offering ARCs to beta readers – if you are, how do they contact you for a copy?

NEW RELEASE from Chantal Bellehumeur

 WIPs and New Releases

1)     Tell us about your book…

Ø  Is this a WIP or a new release?

·     My book is a new release.

Ø  Is it a standalone or an installment to a series or collection?

·     It’s a standalone. I originally considered creating three parts to the book, by writing about three separate trips, but sometimes less is more.

Ø  What is the story about?

·     The short story is about a widowed mother fulfilling her five-year-old son’s desire to see the ocean by taking him on a cruise to the Magdalen Islands.

2)    What inspired this tale?

Ø  How did you come up with the plot?

·     I was mainly inspired by a trip I took to the Magdalen Islands with my husband and son during the summer of 2017.  As always though, I don’t always know everything that will happen until I start writing. As crazy as this sounds, my characters often talk to me and I just go with the flow…

Ø  Did you have to research for this novel – if so, what and why?

·     Unfortunately, I hadn’t kept a travel journal or taken any notes during my trip as I often do, so I had to look up a few things while I was writing my story to make sure I was accurate with the facts I included in the story.

Ø  If you did research, what surprised you most to learn, and why do you think that was?

·     I technically didn’t really learn anything new, but because I didn’t remember all the facts it was interesting to read about them and remember the things I had originally discovered during my trip.

3)   Tell us about your character?

Ø  Who is the main character?

·     The widowed mother, Caroline.

Ø  Is your protagonist anything like you, personally?

o   If yes, then how?

§  Yes, Caroline is a lot like me.  I travelled a lot with my son when he was young.  Things didn’t work out between his father and I, so I was a single mom for a while. I share the same bond with my son as Caroline does with hers.

o   If not, then how do you differ from one another?

§  I am not a widow.

Ø  What made you write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell their story?

§  I started writing this story as any other; with just a simple idea in mind.  I knew I wanted to write about a single mom taking her son to the Magdalen Islands and that I was going to use my own trip as the basis for it. It’s only when I finally sat down to write that the story really started coming to life. My main character originally wasn’t going to be a widow, and when the thought first occurred to me I asked myself “am I really going there?” because I wanted the story to be a cheerful one. I am happy that I did make Caroline a widow, because it added a lot to the story in the end.  As I mentioned earlier, sometimes my characters talk to me and I have to listen to them.

4)   Is there anything specific that you want readers to know about this piece of work?

I started writing short stories for an online magazine called Mom’s Favorite Reads earlier this year. “I’ll Take You to See the Ocean” started off as a short story I was going to submit to the magazine, but I kept elaborating and embellishing the story as I often do and it ended up being a lot longer then I originally intended it to be. I felt that the story would not be the same if I cut parts out. Instead of having the story potentially split into several issues of the online magazine, I decided to publish it on its own.

5)    How do we get a copy?

o   Has the book already been published, or is it available for pre-order? If you have a universal link, please provide it here.

§  My book is available to purchase as a paperback and Kindle on Amazon.
US   UK   CA
Those who have kindle unlimited can download a copy for FREE.

§  I also made the book available as a FREE download on Smashwords for an undetermined period of time: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1074492

o   Are you offering ARCs to beta readers – if you are, how do they contact you for a copy?

§  I don’t need beta readers per say since the book is already published, but anyone who wishes to review the book can request a digital copy from me via my author Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Chantal-Bellehumeur-public-author-page/347446362035640

New Release By Taisha DeMay

 WIPs and New Releases

1)     Tell us about your book…

Ø  Is this a WIP or a new release?

·     Love, Truth and Consequences

Ø  Is it a standalone or an installment to a series or collection?

·     It’s a three-book collection.

Ø  What is the story about?

Love, Truth and Consequences tells the story of CPA Holland Taylor, a woman in love with her boss Decimal Accounting CEO Carter Preston, a man who she’s been in love with since laying eyes on him in the lobby of his company until she hears him voicing his opinion to another executive and her illusions of love are shattered. It’s a tale of revenge and redemption.

2)    What inspired this tale?

Ø  How did you come up with the plot?

·     I came up with the idea a few years ago while thinking about unrequited love and the consequences behind it because of assumptions and misunderstanding.

Ø  Did you have to research for this novel – if so, what and why?

·     Yes. Since the story contain elements of BDSM I attended events and spoke to people who are in the lifestyle. It was I admit an eye-opening experience.

Ø  If you did research, what surprised you most to learn, and why do you think that was?

·     The thing that surprised me the most was the fact that we all adopt some forms of the lifestyle in our romantic and everyday lives. And everyone of us has a little dominant and submissive in us all.

3)   Tell us about your character?

Ø  Who is the main character?

·     Love, Truth and Consequences: Holland Taylor is a woman who grew up in the system having lost both her parents. She’s smart, educated, independent and wants what every woman wants, which is to be loved.

Is your protagonist anything like you, personally?

o   If yes, then how?

§  I would say there are some elements of my personality.

Ø  What made you write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell their story?

·     The thing that made me write this story was the idea of delving into a new genre something I knew basically nothing about initially.

4)   Is there anything specific that you want readers to know about this piece of work?

While writing it I learned a lot about myself and to not be so closed off to trying new things.

5)    How do we get a copy?

o   Has the book already been published, or is it available for pre-order?

Taisha Demay's New Release

WIPs and New Releases

1)     Tell us about your book…

Ø  Is this a WIP or a new release?

·     New Release

Ø  Is it a standalone or an installment to a series or collection?

·     Standalone

Ø  What is the story about?

·     The story centers around Areum Choi an immigrant a violinist prodigy for the Cape Cod symphony

2)    What inspired this tale?

Ø  How did you come up with the plot?

·     This particular story, It Had to Be You was inspired by a story I saw on the news show 60 Minutes about immigrants and how they escape from a third-world country or an impoverished one. Hitching rides on boats, paying people to smuggle them into the country and in the case of my heroine, stowing away on a cargo ship. It’s a story of survival and overcoming the odds.

Ø  Did you have to research for this novel – if so, what and why?

·     Not really, I just used what I remembered from serving in the Army and what I learned from that particular news piece.

Ø  If you did research, what surprised you most to learn, and why do you think that was?

·     How many people actually make it across alive.

3)   Tell us about your character?

Ø  Who is the main character?

·     Areum Choi

Ø  Is your protagonist anything like you, personally?

o   If yes, then how?

§  Yeah, she’s a survivor against all odds just like myself.

Ø  What made you write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell their story?

·     I wanted to tell a story about someone that despite the odds being against her, having lived on the streets using her wits and depending on the kindness of others managed to come out unscathed.

4)   Is there anything specific that you want readers to know about this piece of work?

I want my readers to know that every story I write contains a little bit of myself in it.

5)    How do we get a copy?

o   Are you offering ARCs to beta readers – if you are, how do they contact you for a copy?

§  Yeah, they can email me at taishademay@gmail.com
