MARGARET ATWOOD (1939 - present)
A Canadian writer, Margaret Atwood has more than fifty (50) works of fiction (both short-stories and novels) as well as poetry. She has also written critical essays and is known for her feminine perspective. She is an inventor, teacher, and environmental activist.
Though she is best known for her novel, The Handmaiden's Tale, she has received many awards, which include: The Companion of the Order of Canada in 1981, Booker Prize in 2000 and 2019, and Companion of Honour in 2019. She was honored with the PEN Pinter Prize in 2016.
Margaret Atwood is a brilliant woman. She received her undergraduate degree from Victoria College at the University of Toronto. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Radcliffe College. She has also been awarded multiple honorary degrees from various institutions.
