WIPs and New Releases
1) Tell us about
your work-in-progress, or WIP, as it’s known as in the industry…
Ø What is the
story about?
·
The new book, Fatal
Pretense, is a conspiracy thriller that delves into the drug industry,
and a new factory experiences strange incidents and deaths.
Ø Who is the main
character?
·
Actually, the main
character is more than one; it is a group of people investigating what is going
on in their small town.
·
The place is quiet and
also – because a factory recently closed – they are excited to have Crawford
Pharmaceuticals opening a packaging plant to bring jobs to the area. At least, at first they are.
2) What inspired
this tale?
Ø How did the
story come to you?
·
This story, like most
of my books, comes from my dreams, but also I heard about the regulations on
companies being eliminated. I got thinking about past bad drugs released and
wondered how that would affect the drugs coming out.
Ø Did you have to
research for this novel and if so, why?
·
Oh, yes. I don’t know much about lawyers or drug companies.
I also had to figure out what some drugs do to people, especially when the mind
is concerned.
Ø If you did
research, what do you think surprised you most to learn, and why?
·
I don’t think I was
surprised as much by the research for this book as I was in the last one, DeadlyAfflictions, which deals with anxiety and mental illness. The numbers
are staggering how many people deal with mental illness. Many struggle each day
just to step out of their own homes.
3) Do you relate
to your character?
Ø Is your protagonist
anything like you personally?
· I’d say I relate to all my characters, good and evil.
Ø If yes, then
how?
· I find the heroes of the story are easier to write, but the
evil doer always, to me, is easier to describe and write about because I can
always think of someone who made me mad sometime in my life. How awesome is it
to let out pent up anger by making a character we all want to get what they
have coming to them.
Ø If no, how do
you differ from one another?
·
I think my main
characters are always nicer than me and the wrong doer is always a bit worse
than me. I can then make the difference between them larger and hopefully, more
interesting.
Ø What made you
write this character; what made them important to you or made you want to tell
their story?
·
In this book, there is
more than one main character so I feel in Fatal Pretense the story is about
working together. I think in most of my books, it is having a good friend or a
family member you feel you can trust and depend on to cover your back that is
an amazing thing. I hope all my readers have at least one person they feel this
way about.
4) Is there
anything you specific want readers to know about this piece of work?
I hope people will
read this book and walk away thinking that no matter what catastrophes or
tragedies we face, you can find a way to overcome. I also hope that when people
see something wrong, they will know they can stand up and say, ‘No, we are not
going to let this happen.’
5) When will the
novel be available for purchase?
I hope Fatal
Pretense will be out in March to join the others.
I have published
45 books. I am just starting my fifth year of being an author and hope to have
50 finished by the time the year is through. I like round numbers. At the end
of four years, I had forty.
Ø Has the book
already been published?
·
It is written, but I
have to do final edits before publishing.
Ø If not, when is
the approximate release date?
·
Sometime in March 2017,
fingers crossed!
Ø If yes, do you
have a link available for buying it?
·
No, but readers can
check out the other 44 on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Both places have the
e-books and paperbacks.
