Author Simone Beaudelaire - MEET MY CHARACTER

MEET MY CHARACTER BLOG TOUR

Meet Sarahi from the new book,The Naphil's Kiss

1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
My name is Sarahi. I don’t have a last name. And I’m not exactly sure how old I am. When you’ve been around for a few millennia, it’s tough keeping track of all the years. But I was an adult during the days of Ancient Rome, if that helps. My crush, Lucien, is older. He remembers the Great Flood. Gotta love an older man ;)

2) When and where is the story set?
While my tale begins at the time of Julius Cesar, the bulk of the story takes place between 1978 and 2000.

3) What should we know about him/her?
The most important thing you should know about me is that I’m a succubus. I don’t see that as being any different from any other food allergy. I can only take in nourishment in the form of sexual energy. That might sound like fun to some people, but it’s a drag, believe me! I can’t feed off only one human partner because it drains him. Drain him too long, and he becomes a drone, a mindless slave to my mother, the demoness Lilith. I won’t do that to anyone. I was lucky, though. The first time I met Lucien, I discovered I could feed off sexual attraction, and didn’t have to complete the act. That really helped.

4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
As you can see, I live a pretty conflicted life. Despite my unusual eating habits, I want to be a decent person. Not least of all because of Lucien. See, he’s not a man, not completely. He’s a Naphil; half human, half angel. He’s not supposed to have sex at all, but I’m working on him. *giggle*. I don’t think he’ll be able to hold out forever. My other, more serious conflict is my mother. I’m supposed to bring her offerings, including flowers, food, and drones. The flowers and food I can manage, but I just can’t make a drone. It’s wrong. But I have to be careful, because if I don’t give her what she wants, she just might decide to decide to destroy me!

5) What is the personal goal of the character?
I have one main goal, which is to stay alive. Between the Nephilim who are charged with wiping us out, and Mother, who is dangerous under all circumstances, that’s a big challenge in itself. Beyond that, I do try to be a decent person. I need to feed frequently, at least every few weeks, but I try not to harm anyone by doing it. As far as my personal goals, I have a certain black-skinned hunk of a half-angel I’d love to roll in the sheets with. He’s strong-willed though, and I refuse to use my powers to enhance seduction. I want him to want me so bad he can’t stand it anymore. I do have one other goal. I love prophecy. Whenever I have a moment, I study the prophecies of the Incubus, a fascinating creature of unlimited power which is supposed to proceed somehow from Mother’s line.

6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?
My story? It’s had a couple of titles. First it was called Tears of Blood, but my writer decided that didn’t sound romantic enough, more like a sword fighting book (there is some of that too) so she changed it to The Naphil’s Kiss, because the day I kissed Lucien, way back in Ancient Rome, set the whole series of events in motion.

7) When can we expect the book to be published?
Oh, honey, it’s published already. Just go to Amazon and check it out, paperback or ebook. Check it out and see if I managed to snag my angel or not, and what happened after that. It’s a bit of a sad story, but there’s always the possibility of a happy ending.
