APRIL FOOLS DAY FOR BOOK LOVERS

BOOK LOVERS' HOLIDAY

Wednesday, April 1, 2020

April Fools Day is traditionally a day of jokes and pranks.  Historians believe it dates back to when France changed to the Georgian calendar in the late 1500's.  Originally, they followed the Julian calendar, which - like the Hindu calendar - marks the start of the year with the spring equinox (April).  As the new year was now January 1st, those who continued to celebrate the old way were considered 'April fools' and became the butt of many jokes.
