Words Can Wound

Beware Of The Word!

When we were young, most of us heard our mother's say, "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all."  We didn't realize this common saying was a profound warning.  I doubt any of us really took it seriously.
As I got older, I came to understand this phrase more.
I learned that when we are angry or hurt, we will say things that we don't mean.  They may be true, but we will say them in a cutting manner with the pure intent on damaging the person to whom our words are directed.
We will all say and do things we regret or wish we had handled differently, but we don't need to exasperate bad situations by being mean.
Whether written or spoken, remember that words are powerful.
They can create and destroy in a second; a second that cannot be taken back.
